Between September 30 and October 2, part of the NaturaInvest team participated in the REDLAC Conference, a key event for the exchange of experiences, best practices, and tools related to finance for biodiversity in Latin America and the Caribbean.  

Participating in this event was an enriching experience that allowed us to meet key players in the region, explore opportunities for collaboration, and delve deeper into common challenges in implementing financial mechanisms that promote the conservation and sustainable use of natural capital.  

During the congress, our associate researcher Gabriel Acuña was part of the panel “Integrating Nature into Business to Create Value.” In his presentation, he shared the results of a study analyzing how Aguas Andinas, CMPC, and Anglo American are incorporating nature into their projects, highlighting concrete opportunities to generate environmental, social, and economic value within their respective sectors.  

One of the most important lessons learned from NaturaInvest was confirming the crucial role that academia plays in generating evidence and quantifiable data to support biodiversity-oriented investment decisions. We leave with renewed motivation to contribute through applied research, developing metrics, tools, and knowledge that connect science, policy, and financing.  

Participating in REDLAC reinforces our commitment to being an active part of a regional community working toward a more regenerative and nature-positive economy.
