Visita a Universidad de Concepción y proyecto Campus Naturaleza

Jul 30, 2025

With the aim of bringing applied research closer to decision-making, NaturaInvest Director Rodrigo Arriagada, together with researchers Alejandra Engler and Roberto Ponce, participated in the workshop “Applied Research and Public Policy: Advancing the Valuation of Natural Capital.” The event brought together representatives from academia, research centers, and public agencies.

The meeting marked the launch of the Natural Capital 2026–2028 Project, a collaboration between Chile's Natural Capital Committee (CCN) and Stanford University (NatCap), with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The initiative seeks to apply natural capital approaches at the national level, promoting alignment between policies, financing, information, and institutional capacities.

The workshop highlighted the importance of raising awareness of nature's role in generating goods and services, and how valuing nature can strengthen public decision-making. In Chile, the project is linked to the CCN's priorities and lessons learned from the pilot project in the Bueno River Basin, which demonstrated the potential of ecosystem services to improve environmental management.
