Visita a Universidad de Concepción y proyecto Campus Naturaleza
Jul 30, 2025

Last Thursday, July 30, we launched NaturaInvest: Nature Insights Series, a new series of studies aimed at generating knowledge and fostering dialogue among businesses, academia, and other stakeholders on biodiversity, natural capital, and sustainability.
At this first event, we presented the report “Nature-Based Solutions in the Chilean Business Sector,” which provides an initial assessment of how companies are incorporating initiatives that protect, restore, or manage nature to address environmental, social, and productive challenges.
During her presentation, Alejandra Stehr, deputy director of NaturaInvest, emphasized that one of the main challenges is moving from one-off or primarily reputational initiatives to projects capable of demonstrating verifiable results. This requires defining clear objectives, target ecosystems, baselines, indicators, monitoring systems, governance mechanisms, and financial stakeholders.
As Alejandra noted, real change occurs when nature ceases to be merely a chapter in sustainability reports and is incorporated into companies’ risk matrices, planning, and investment decisions.
This point was also raised during the panel discussion. The experiences shared demonstrated that Nature-Based Solutions can help address specific challenges, such as water security, climate resilience, ecosystem restoration, and risk management. However, scaling up these initiatives requires strengthening their measurement, sustainability, funding, and alignment with corporate strategies.
We would like to extend special thanks to Alejandra for presenting the study’s findings and to those who participated in the panel and shared their experiences and lessons learned:
Rafael Enrique Ascanio Vernet, from Anglo American
Felipe Sanchez Ihl, from Aguas Andinas
Felipe Torres F., from CMPC
We also thank Magdalena Fernandez for her welcoming remarks and everyone who joined us and actively participated in this event.
This launch marks the beginning of a series through which we aim to help ensure that nature is recognized not only for its environmental value, but also as a strategic asset for resilience, risk management, and the creation of business value.
Invertir en naturaleza, invertir en futuro.
